Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook a diverse range of vegetarian dishes, ensuring high standards of taste and presentation. - Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences. - Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations. - Collaborate with the head chef to manage kitchen operations and ensure efficient workflow. - Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive team environment. - Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies to ensure kitchen efficiency. - Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with dietary restrictions and allergen guidelines. - Conduct quality control checks on dishes before they leave the kitchen. - Participate in daily food preparation and cooking tasks, supporting the team during peak service times. - Innovate and experiment with new recipes to enhance menu offerings. - Maintain kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues promptly. - Engage with customers when necessary to provide a memorable dining experience. - Contribute to maintaining a sustainable kitchen through responsible sourcing and waste management.

Qualifications

- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification. - Proven experience as a Chef in a professional kitchen, preferably within the vegetarian cuisine sector. - Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices in compliance with Australian standards. - Ability to create and innovate vegetarian dishes that align with diverse dietary preferences. - Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. - Excellent communication and teamwork skills to foster a positive kitchen environment. - Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and public holidays. - Familiarity with sourcing local ingredients to support sustainability initiatives. - Passion for vegetarian cooking and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
